Visits: Design Museum
A visit to the Design Museum yeild many positive insights into sustainable and appropriate design. The designers in residents have a new set of criteria for 2015, two of which are aplicable to this area of design.
- Design that promotes or delivers change... from design that use new materials or processes, to designs that aid new ways of living.
- Design that enables access... from designs that put the user first, to designs that improve lives.
One of the most relevant products was the Blue Diversion Toilet, designed by EOOS and Eawag. The use of appropriate design and water purification provides great inspiration for the development of an adaptable water purification device.
The use of materials, manufacture techniques and design should be analysied further in order to gain a better understanding of how semiotic and semantic factors affect the product.
